The history of the Napraforgó street model housing estate

Napraforgó Street in Buda, a unique ensemble of our modern architecture, was established in 1931 during the Great Depression. The model estate, consisting of twenty-two family houses, sought to prove that it is possible to create full-fledged homes that enable a modern lifestyle and provide comfort on small plots of land.
This volume is the first monograph on Napraforgó Street. It explores the authentic history of the model estate, presents its novelties and reception, and attempts to reconstruct the original state of the houses and, last but not least, the joyful, sometimes turbulent lives of the families living in them, using contemporary plans, documents and photographs.
